New Orleans, Louisiana

Featuring 3 Guided Tours and More!

1st Day: We will depart for Montgomery, Alabama.  This will be our home for the night before traveling the rest of the way to New Orleans.

2nd Day: Today, we will travel to New Orleans, LA. Upon arrival, we will have a guided tour of the New Orleans French Quarter, also known as Vieux Carre,  which is the oldest neighborhood in the city.  Vieux Carre is known for its vibrant nightlife and colorful buildings.  Our guide will detail the landmarks, legends, and splendid architecture that made this city famous. From the Mississippi River to the serene courtyards you will discover everything from outrageous colonial history and Creole culture to piracy and architectural masterpieces.  You will stop at the French Market, Jean Lafitte Blacksmith Shop, Jackson Square, and Saint Louis Cathedral.  Tonight you are free to enjoy New Orleans. You can visit the French Quarter to see Bourbon Street and experience some New Orleans nightlife. (CB)

3rd Day: After breakfast on your own, we will have a local tour guide join us for a unique journey back to the early days of Louisiana Bayou and swamp explorations.  Starting with the famous Manchac Swamp Tour.  Swamp creatures recognize the boats as part of their normal environment, and respond to the boat captain’s call by peeking out from underbrush, or between moss-draped trees, and shrubs.  As you drift through waterways, you will learn about the Louisiana Wetlands, inhabitants of the swamp, like the American alligator, as well as the history of the Cajun Town of Frenier. Next, we will head to the French Market District for free time, lunch, and shopping on our own.  This District encompasses 6 blocks of the Lower French Quarter and has over 20 retail shops, performance venues, restaurants, cafes, a flea market and a farmers market.  The French Market, “America’s Oldest Public Market”, began as a Native American trading post and has become a cultural entertainment destination with a diversity of food vendors serving prepared foods as well as fresh products. After lunch, we will continue on a guided tour through Mardi Gras World.  There will be colorful Mardi Gras props like a jovial jester, fiercely realistic alligators, and Marilyn Monroe with a skirt flying to greet one and all.  View the most awesome floats ever built for carnival like the Orpheus, a 140-foot triple-tandem sea monster “Leviathan” and the 240-foot quintuple-tandem “Captain Eddie’s S.S. Endymion,” with fiber optic lights. There are plenty of opportunities for photos in front of floats, with props, or tap into your imagination as you dress up in authentic carnival costumes of sequined headdresses, gowns, or regal coats of armor.  Tonight we will have Dinner at Mulate’s Cajun Restaurant featuring Live Cajun Dance Music.  Recognized throughout the world as the ‘King of Cajun Dine and Dance Halls’ and where Cajun heritage is celebrated.  (CB, D)

4th Day: Today we begin our journey toward home, stopping overnight in Atlanta, GA.

5th Day:  This Morning we will visit The King Center.  You will have time on your own to explore the visitor center and visit the final resting place for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his wife, Coretta Scott King.  This Center was established by Coretta Scott King in her husband's honor and named The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc. in 1968 to preserve the legacy and his dream of nonviolent social change. Departing for home after our visit to The King Center.  Arriving back at approximately 7:30 PM. (CB)
