1st Day: We begin our journey to New England today, spending our first night in New Jersey.
2nd Day: Today, we will travel through Massachusetts and then up the Vermont-New Hampshire state line, on our way to the beautiful “White Mountains” of New Hampshire. We will be lodging at a resort in Lincoln, NH for the next two nights, and dinner is included this evening. (CB, D)
3rd Day: A hearty breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today we will travel to Mount Washington, NH where we board the Cog Railway for a scenic journey to the summit. The Mount Washington Cog Railway, also known as the Cog, is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway. Enjoy a Box Lunch at the Base Station after our ride. On our wayback to Lincoln, we’ll visit Fadden's General Store where you can enjoy a tour of the sugar house and museum, and sample Vermont Maple syrup. This afternoon we will ride on the White Mountain Express at Loon Mountain for a round trip gondola ride to the summit of Loon. This evening we will enjoy dinner at one of the area’s fabulous restaurants. (B, BL, D)
4th Day: After breakfast, we begin to make our way to Maine across the Kancamagus Highway - a 34.5-mile National Scenic Byway, offering travelers scenic vistas and mountain views in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest. Then it’s “All Aboard” for a 1-hour narrated excursion on the Conway Scenic Railroad. After our ride, we’ll have time for shopping and lunch on your own in the Conway/North Conway area before continuing on to South Portland, ME - our home for the next two evenings. Dinner is on your own in the area. (B)
5th Day: Following breakfast, we board the coach for a trip to the city of Portland. Here we meet our local Maine guide for a tour of this wonderful small city, which was named one of the Foodiest Small Cities in America. Learn the great history of this seaside city and those who made it their home. Our tour will also include a visit to the Portland Head Light, which was commissioned by George Washington in 1794. Next we travel to Freeport (home of LL Bean) where you can enjoy some fabulous shopping and lunch on your own. This afternoon we visit The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The Maine Maritime Museum offers many opportunities to explore Maine’s maritime heritage and culture. Exhibits include a historic shipyard and an active waterfront. This evening we enjoy a traditional Maine Lobster Dinner. (B, D)
6th Day: This morning we will be heading to Lancaster, PA. We will be traveling south by Hartford, Connecticut and New York City. Evening is free for your enjoyment. (B)
7th Day: Have breakfast and board the coach for your return trip to North Carolina. Arriving back approximately 7:00 PM. (CB)
