All aboard for a scenic train ride through the Western North Carolina mountains. We will have a breakfast stop en route to Bryson City where you can enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many restaurants in the area, and/or visit the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad Store & Train Museum before boarding the train. We’ll be taking the Nantahala Gorge Excursion that departs from Bryson City, goes to Nantahala, and returns. The 44-mile round trip features beautiful views through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the Alarka Mountains, the Cowee Mountains, the Cheoah Mountains, and finally into the gorge surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest. Highlights of the train ride include Fontana Lake (water level may be down for Fall dam maintenance), Devil’s Kitchen Caves, and of course, the Nantahala Gorge. There will be a one hour layover at the Nantahala Outdoor Center where you can stretch your legs, grab something to eat, or maybe see some kayak action on the water! Returning approximately 11:30PM. Note: The Great Smoky Mountain Railway schedule is subject to change.
Special Notice: Balance due 30 days prior to departure. Cancellation within 30 days of departure will result in payment forfeiture.
