1st Day: We depart for our Florida getaway, stopping for breakfast and lunch en route. We will overnight in Brunswick, GA, gateway to the Golden Isles, St. Simon's Island and Jeckyl Island. We will have dinner on our own in the area, then rest up for our Floridian adventures tomorrow!
2nd Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we will travel to Amelia Island where we will have a guided tour of the area followed by lunch on your own and shopping in the historic district. As you meander through the streets of Fernandia Beach, you will be transported to a place where time stands still. After lunch, we will make our way to St. Augustine, FL, our home for the next two nights. Before checking into the hotel, we will visit Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaelogical Park, the oldest successful European settlement in the United States. Colonial America started right HERE, 55 years before the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock! After our visit, we will check into the hotel before dinner on your own in the area. (CB)
3rd Day: Today we'll enjoy more of St. Augustine on the Red Train Sightseeing Tour that will cover more than seven miles, and see dozens of historic sites, including Castillo De San Marcos National Monument, and more. After our tour, you will have free time to look around and have lunch on your own before we visit the Pirate & Treasure Museum, where we'll see more than 800 authentic artifacts celebrating the history of piracy, both factual and fictional, from the 1600’s through present day. We'll leave the museum and make our way over to the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum where you're welcome to climb the 219 steps to the top for a fantastic view on the Atlantic Coast from above. We'll have dinner on your own in the area before calling it a night to rest up for more fun tomorrow. (CB)
4th Day: After breakfast, we head to Silver Springs for a Glass Bottom Boat Ride. You'll see breathtaking views of underwater life and the many springs that feed the Silver River. Marvel at the beauty of Mammoth Spring and see countless species of fish, ancient Native American and Spanish artifacts and even underwater movie props from the days when Hollywood productions flourished at the park. After our boat ride, we will travel to Savannah, Georgia for our overnight stay. The city of Savannah inspires visitors with its quaint cobblestone streets and majestic architecture. The evening is free for your enjoyment. (CB)
5th Day: This morning we will go to the Historic District for a unique tour, a Carriage Tour. After the tour, we will go to the Lady & Sons Restaurant in the Old City Market for a delicious and mouth-watering southern buffet. After lunch we will head for home.
