Cumberland Falls & Pigeon Forge

Plus Pink Jeep Tour & Titanic Museum

1st Day: We will travel towards Cumberland Falls in KY this morning, stopping along the way for a tour and Lunch at the Museum of Appalachia, also known as “A Living Mountain Village,” a pioneer mountain farm-village that lends voice to the people of Southern Appalachia through the artifacts and stories they left behind. Founded in 1969 by John Rice Irwin, the Museum is now a non-profit organization and a Smithsonian Affiliate museum. Upon arrival in Cumberland Falls, KY, we will check into our home for the night. This afternoon, we will visit Cumberland Falls, located in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Known as the “Niagara of the South,” the waterfall forms a 125-foot wide curtain that plunges 60 feet into the boulder-strewn gorge below. The mist of Cumberland Falls creates the magic of the Moonbow, only visible on a clear night during a full moon. This unique phenomenon appears nowhere else in the Western Hemisphere.  Dinner is also included at the Cumberland Falls Lodge tonight. (L, D)

2nd Day: This morning we will head to the Natural Arch Scenic Area, with stunning geological features and sweeping views, Natural Arch is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in not only Kentucky but the entire region. Located near the Red River Gorge Geological Area, the natural sandstone arch bridge spans 78 feet and is 65 feet high. We will then make our way to Pigeon Forge to explore like never before. We will embark on a Pink Jeep Tour, traveling along Little River and up the newest section of the Foothills Parkway, touted by many as “the prettiest drive in America”. We will pass through Wears Valley and learn about the rich history of early settlements and the lumber mills that hit the mountain hollers like a runaway train. We will stop at overlooks for awe-inspiring panoramas of the highest peaks in the eastern United States. We will close out the tour with a thrilling, off-road adventure on private land that will leave you wanting more!  After the jeep tour, we will head back to the hotel to freshen up for a delicious, family-style dinner. Mama's Farmhouse in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, won the People's Choice Award at the 2015 International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2024. (CB, D)

3rd Day: This morning we will visit the Titanic Museum Attraction, an interactive museum containing 400 artifacts.  While on your self-guided tour, you can walk up the Grand Staircase, steer the ship, and even feel the coldness of 28-degree water.  You will also be able to touch a real live, growing iceberg and hear actual survivor stories.  Afterwards, we will head for home arriving back approximately at 9:30PM.
