Virginia's Eastern Shore

1st Day: We travel today to Virginia's Eastern Shore. Our first stop will be in Norfolk, VA for a 2-hour Lunch Cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk. Cruise the Elizabeth River while being dazzled by the skyline of sights and views of the Navy’s Atlantic fleet. Your afternoon will be filled with festive cuisine at the Grande Lunch Buffet, an interactive DJ and dancing, and be entertained with a fascinating narrated tour of Norfolk’s historic harbor easily seen from the huge panoramic windows. Following the cruise, we will continue north, crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, an award-winning engineering marvel and considered one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. This 23-mile toll facility is a travel convenience, connecting mainland Virginia to the Delmarva Peninsula. The crossing consists of a series of low-level trestles interrupted by two approximately one-mile-long tunnels beneath Thimble Shoals and Chesapeake navigation channels. The man made islands, each approximately 5.25 acres in size, are located at each end of the two tunnels. We continue to make our way north to our hotel for the evening. Dinner on your own in the area, and the remainder of the evening is free. (L) 

2nd Day: Today we will have a 2-hour Wildlife Tour from Daisey’s Island Cruises, winner of Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award. Board their comfortable pontoon boat to experience Assateague and Chincoteague Islands in a way that is not possible from land. The tour features close-up views of the world-famous ponies (as long as they’re being cooperative!), cruising by rarely accessed areas to the north where many of the ponies live. After the tour, we will have lunch on our own in the area before beginning the journey home. Arriving back approximately 9:00 PM.
