New Hampshire & Maine

Featuring the Cog Railway

1st Day: We begin our journey to New England today, spending our first night in New Jersey.

2nd Day: Today, we will travel through Massachusetts and then up the Vermont-New Hampshire state line, on our way to the beautiful “White Mountains” of New Hampshire. We will be lodging at a resort in Lincoln, NH for the next two nights. Dinner is served this evening at the resort. (CB, D)

3rd Day: A hearty breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today a local New Hampshire guide will join us as we journey to Mount Washington, NH where we board the Cog Railway for a scenic journey to the summit. The Mount Washington Cog Railway, also known as the Cog, is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway. Enjoy a Box Lunch served along our journey. This afternoon we will ride on the White Mountain Express at Loon Mountain for a round trip gondola ride to the summit of Loon. This evening we board the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train for a scenic ride through the White Mountains, while enjoying a delicious four-course dinner. 4th Day: After breakfast, we board the coach for coastal Maine. We make our way to Ogunquit, ME, and the village of Perkins Cove. Here we board the Finest Kind Lobster Boat for a scenic lobster pulling cruise, where we learn about lobster fishing. Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own in the charming town of Ogunquit. We continue north along the coast, stopping in Kennebunkport (summer home of former President George W. Bush). We overnight for the next two evenings in South Portland, ME. Dinner is on your own in the area. (B)

5th Day: Following breakfast, we board the coach for a trip to the city of Portland. Here we meet our local Maine guide for a tour of this wonderful small city, which was named one of the Foodiest Small Cities in America. Learn the great history of this seaside city and those who made it their home. Our tour will also include a visit to the Portland Head Light, which was commissioned by George Washington in 1794. Next we travel to Freeport (home of LL Bean) where you can enjoy some fabulous shopping and lunch on your own. This afternoon we visit The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The Maine Maritime Museum offers many opportunities to explore Maine’s maritime heritage and culture. Exhibits include a historic shipyard and an active waterfront. This evening we enjoy a traditional Maine Lobster Dinner. (B, D)

6th Day: This morning we will be heading to Lancaster, PA. We will be traveling south by Hartford, Connecticut and New York City. Evening is free for your enjoyment. (B)

7th Day: Have breakfast and board the coach for your return trip to North Carolina. Arriving back approximately 7:00 PM. (CB)

Special Notice: $100.00 deposit per person is required to reserve a seat. Balance is due 30 days prior to departure. Cancellation within 30 days of departure will result in payment forfeiture.
