Day 1: Arrive in London, England. Welcome to London! Globus Hosts will be waiting to welcome you. Free time this afternoon.
Day 2: London - Morning sightseeing with a local guide includes the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Whitehall, Prime Minister's Downing Street residence, Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace, and a visit to St. Paul's Cathedral. Free time this afternoon. Enhance your free time in London with a three-course dinner, followed by a private, narrated cruise on the Thames River this evening. Day 3: London-Stonehenge-Bath - Meet your Tour Director and traveling companions and depart for Stonehenge for a guided visit. In Bath, visit the excavations of the Roman Baths. Free time the remainder of the day. (B, D)
Day 4: Bath-Ludlow-Llangollen, Wales and Liverpool, England - today we'll have a guided tour of Ludlow, Llangollen and Liverpool after which you'll have free time to spend the remainder of the day as you wish. (B)
Day 5: Liverpool-Grasmere-Gretna Green- Edinburgh - today we'll take a scenic drive in the Lake District (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). We'll also visit Wordsworth's beloved village - Grasmere, where we can sample the original Grasmere gingerbread. Moving on to Gretna Green, we'll visit The Whisky House and taste some well-known malts. We'll have free time in the evening at Edinburgh. (B)
Day 6: Edinburgh - Morning city sightseeing with a local guide includes the New Town, Old Town, and a visit to Edinburgh Castle to see Scotland's Crown Jewels. You'll have plenty of free time in the afternoon to explore on your own. (B)
Day 7: Edinburgh-Abbotsford-Jedburgh-York, England - today we'll have a guided tour of Sir Walter Scott's Abbotsford House. In Jedburgh, we'll take photos of the ruined Agustinian abbey, and in York, we'll see York Minster on a guided walk through the Shambles. (B, D)
Day 8: York-Stratford Upon Avon-London - as we travel along the countryside, two of the sights we'll today are Anne Hatahway's Cottage as well as Shakespeare's birthplace (B)
Day 9: Having made many wonderful memories, your Britain Sampler concludes this morning after breakfast. (B)
