The Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair is the oldest and largest crafts fair in the Blue Ridge Mountains. People from all across America know that the place to be on the first weekend in August is the charming Town Square of Burnsville, NC. Every kind of handmade craft imaginable can be found here, whether you’re looking for a beautiful handmade quilt, jewelry from local gemstones, hand-turned wooden bowls, pottery of every design, traditional mountain musical instruments, or stained glass works of art. There will be over 200 juried crafters that show and sell their own beautifully handcrafted work. Burnsville is known for more artisans per capita than anywhere else in the United States. Also enjoy free entertainment featuring an array of traditional mountain music, and dance groups. Try your hand at making candles, quilting, basket making, or just walk through a replica of a Civil War outpost. A food court offers a wide array of delicious food, as well as local restaurants located around the square. Departing for home after a wonderful day in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Arriving back approximately 8:00 PM.
