1st Day: Today we travel to New Jersey for our first night. Evening is free.
2nd Day: We will journey north, making our way to the historic Mystic Seaport Village. You will arrive in time to enjoy lunch on your own and explore this fantastic waterfront museum. See historic ship captains homes, tall ships and master craftsmen working on many beautiful ships. We continue to Newport, RI, where we check into our home for the next three nights. Dinner is included this evening at a waterfront restaurant in downtown Newport. (CB, D)
3rd Day: After breakfast, we are greeted by our local guide for a tour of historic Newport. See many homes dating back to the 1600’s, the Truro Synagogue (Oldest in the United States) before driving along the beautiful 10 Mile Drive and Bellevue Avenue, where you will see the Grand Mansions and Homes of the “Elite 400”. Enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping on Thames Street and Banister Wharf. This afternoon we visit the Breakers Mansion, Home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Conclude our day with a visit to St. Mary’s Church where President Kennedy married Jackie. We return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. (B, D)
4th Day: Following breakfast, we board the coach for a trip to scenic Block Island. We travel to Point Judith where we board our ferry for Block Island. The crossing takes about one hour. Upon our arrival you will have some time to explore the Old Harbor Historic District and do a little browsing on your own. Lunch will be served at the National Hotel overlooking the water. Following lunch, we will be greeted by our Island guide and bus as we enjoy a two hour tour of the Island. You will see Block Island Southeast Light, Mohegan Bluffs, the North Light, the National Wildlife Preserves, US Weather Bureau House and much more. Conclude with a little relaxing before taking our ferry to the Mainland. A delicious Rhode Island Seafood Dinner is served in Point Judith at George’s of Galilee Restaurant before we return to the hotel. (B, L, D)
5th Day: Departing New England this morning and our destination is Manheim, PA. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a unique dining experience at the Historic Mount Hope Estate, a 19th-century mansion located in northern Lancaster County. This area has vast farmland and lush crops, and is known for farm-fresh food. We’ll dine in the beautifully restored, historic barn and enjoy the finest and freshest food from the farm-to-the-table. Fun- hearted actors will be your hosts as they talk about the history of agriculture in Lancaster County and share information about the sources of the items on the menu. (B, D)
6th Day: Good morning! Have breakfast and board the coach for our return trip home. Arriving back approximately 6:30 PM. (CB)
