New England Fall Foliage Mountains to Coast

New Hampshire & Maine

1st Day: We begin our journey to New England today. Our first night will be in the southern New Jersey area.

2nd Day: Today, we will travel through Massachusetts and then up the Vermont- New Hampshire state line, on our way to the beautiful “White Mountains” of New Hampshire. The fall foliage should be spectacular during this time of year. We will be lodging at a resort in Lincoln, NH for the next two nights. This evening we board the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train for a scenic ride through the White Mountains while enjoying a delicious four-course dinner. (CB, D)

3rd Day: A hearty breakfast buffet is included this morning at the hotel. Today we journey to Meredith, NH where we board the Lake Winnipesaukee Railroad for a scenic journey along the shores of this beautiful lake. Enjoy a Hobo Picnic Lunch served along our journey. This afternoon we travel to Clark’s Trading Post for a meet with their famous Black Bears (feeding schedule pending) and a little shopping in their fantastic gift shop. We conclude our day with a ride on the Cannon Mountain Tram to the 4200’ summit where you can enjoy spectacular views of Vermont and New Hampshire. Dinner is served this evening at the resort followed by entertainment in the lounge. (B, L, D)

4th Day: After breakfast, we board the coach for coastal Maine. We make our way to Ogunquit, ME and Perkins Cove. Here we board the Finest Kind Lobster Boat for a scenic lobster pulling cruise where we learn about lobster fishing. Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own in the charming town of Ogunquit. We continue north along the coast stopping in Kennebunkport (summer home of former President George W. Bush). We conclude our day with a visit to Len Libby’s Candy in Scarborough, ME; home of Lenny the 1700 pound chocolate moose. We overnight for the next two evenings in Saco, ME. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant featuring Maine products. (B, D)

5th Day: Following breakfast, we board the coach for a trip to the city of Portland. Here we meet our local guide for a tour of this wonderful small city which was named one of the Foodiest Small Cities in America. Learn the great history of this seaside city and those who made it their home. Our tour will also include a visit to the Portland Head Light which was commissioned by George Washington in 1794. Next we travel to Freeport (home of LL Bean) where you can enjoy some fabulous shopping and lunch on your own. This afternoon we visit The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. The Maine Maritime Museum offers many opportunities to explore Maine’s maritime heritage and culture. Exhibits include a historic shipyard and an active waterfront. This evening we enjoy a traditional Maine Lobster Dinner. (B, D)

6th Day: This morning we will be heading to Lancaster, PA. We will be traveling south by Hartford, Connecticut and New York City. Evening is free for your enjoyment. (B)

7th Day: Have breakfast and board the coach for your return trip to North Carolina. Arriving back approximately 7:00 PM. (CB)
