1st Day: Today we travel through the Great Smoky Mountains on our way to Pigeon Forge, TN. One of the most beautiful times of the year is autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains. With a colorful patchwork of orange, red, yellow and gold painted throughout the hills and valleys of East Tennessee, you are sure to see some beautiful scenery on this trip. We’ll stop en route at the Bush Beans Visitor Center, where you can trace the values and events that made BUSH’S BEST® what it is today. And it’s all housed in the original A.J. Bush & Company general store, founded in 1897. The 12,000-square-foot center features a turn-of-the-century general store, museum, gift shop, theater and cafe serving the “No. 1 Baked Beans in the World.” Following our visit, we’ll continue on to Pigeon Forge. Tonight, the Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show invites you to join the most famous pirate, Blackbeard, and his quarter master, Calico Jack, as they lead the Crimson and Sapphire crews in a battle on land, on deck, in water and high above full-sized pirate ships in an indoor hideaway lagoon! Be amazed by beautiful mermaids, tropical birds, and much more all while you enjoy a fabulous four-course feast. (D)
2nd Day: Welcome to the Big House! Alcatraz East Crime Museum gives you the behind- the-scenes story to our nation’s crime history. There are 20 different exhibit areas covering five themes for guests to explore: history of American crime; the consequences of crime; crime scene investigation; crime fighting; and pop culture. Guests of all ages will encounter a unique journey into the history of American crime, crime solving, and our justice system. Through interactive exhibits and original artifacts, Alcatraz East is an entertaining and educational experience for all ages – so much fun it’s a crime! After lunch, we’ll head to Dolly Parton’s Dollywood, considered one of the world’s premier theme parks. It features rip-roaring rides, delectable fare, and stellar entertainment—all surrounded by breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Fall provides the perfect backdrop for festive family fun at Dollywood’s Harvest Festival. From live artists performing country, southern gospel, classic rock ‘n’ roll and Appalachian music, to master craftsmen showcasing glass blowing and blacksmithing, Dollywood is brimming with the rich heritage and artistry of the Smokies. During the Harvest Festival, world-class Artisans from across the country share their talents through an array of handmade wares, spanning from functional to decorative. And, the Southern Gospel Jubilee, with some of the biggest names in Southern gospel music, is taking place. There are free daily concerts on the park’s various stages. Don’t forget the highlight of the day, the spectacular Great Pumpkin LumiNights, with thousands of carved and illuminated jack-o-lanterns immersing families in fabulous fall fun. LumiNights features artistic sculptures, whimsical scenes and delightful, family-friendly fun throughout Timber Canyon. It also features new pumpkin-themed food options, entertainment and interactive opportunities for park guests to experience an exciting nightly finale during the best fall festival in the Smokies. A meal voucher is also included so you can have dinner at your choice of restaurants in Dollywood. (CB, D)
3rd Day: The Island in Pigeon Forge is filled with attractions, shops, restaurants, music, and a 200-foot-tall observation wheel! Explore the terrific new shopping and entertainment complex, where you’ll discover more than sixty retail and specialty shops—plus several popular restaurants & eateries, rides & games, dancing fountains, live music, entertaining attractions, plus a whole lot more for the entire family. You’re free to enjoy The Island and have lunch on your own. We’ll depart for home this afternoon. Arriving back approximately 9:00 PM. (CB)
