The American Experience

1st Day: This morning we head to our Nation’s Capital. After lunch we will have a professionally guided tour of our Nation’s Capital. We will see the following sites: National WWII Memorial, photo stop at the U.S. Capitol, National Archives, drive by Embassy Row, drive by National Cathedral, photo stop at the White House, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and more. After dinner, we will take a riding tour of the city, to include a stop at the Jefferson Memorial. After a wonderful afternoon in DC we will check into our home for the next two nights.

2nd Day: Today we will visit the spectacular Smithsonian Institution where you can look at all the wonders. The Smithsonian Institute is the world’s largest museum complex with 19 museums. About three percent of the museum’s 143 million objects are on display at any one time. Some of the museums at The National Mall are: Air and Space Museum; American History Museum; Natural History Museum; American Indian Museum; National Gallery of Art; and more. For those interested we will drop off close to the Holocaust museum. Evening is free at the hotel. (CB)

3rd Day: This morning we will proceed to the Arlington National Cemetery, America’s largest national burial ground with more than 500 acres of landscaped hills. Explore the rich history found within the cemetery grounds on an interpretive bus tour. You will see President John F. Kennedy’s gravesite, U.S. Coast Guard Memorial, U.S. Army Gen. John J. Pershing’s gravesite, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Arlington House (The Robert E. Lee Memorial). Also, witness the changing of the guards. After visiting Arlington Cemetery we will see the Iwo Jima Memorial. Later this afternoon we will head for home, arriving approximately 9:30 PM. (CB)
