Christmas In The Amish Country

Miracle of Christmas and Joy to the World

1st Day: Upon arrival in Lancaster, Pennsylvania we will check into our home for the next two nights. Tonight, enjoy a show at the American Music Theatre. Playing at this time is Joy to the World. The ringing of church bells in a quaint town square set the scene for "Joy to the World", AMT’s newest holiday spectacular. Evoking the revered holiday nostalgia of hometowns all across the U.S., our stage will transform into a small-town winter carnival brimming with family and friends. Featuring scenes filled with entertaining elves, dramatic dancing, sensational singing, and grand moments galore. The incredible AMT Singers, Dancers, and Orchestra will perform favorites such as “Away in a Manger,” “Jingle Bells,” “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing,” “Let it Snow,” and “Carol of the Bells” live on stage. Awe-inspiring music and dance, phenomenal voices, and light-hearted holiday humor are the ingredients for this season’s all-new extravaganza.

2nd Day: This morning, we will step back in time with a visit to Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, considered by many to be the “best kept secret in Pennsylvania.” Founded by brothers Henry and George Landis, it is the largest “living history” village in the country dedicated to the total preservation of early Pennsylvania German/Dutch life. The authentic crossroads village includes historic buildings with costumed guide interpretation, a vast collection of historic agricultural equipment, and ongoing farming based on 1700’s and 1800’s practices and traditions, using historic breeds of animals and crops authentic to the period. Through its Heirloom Seed Project, Landis Valley preserves over 240 varieties of seeds—the same types of seeds that were in the pockets of the first Pennsylvania German settlers. This afternoon we will visit the Kitchen Kettle Village, with over thirty shops and restaurants jammed full of Lancaster’s simple pleasures. We’ll also go to a Farmer’s Market (if open). Tonight, an Amish Feast is included. After dinner, we head to Strasburg to the Sight & Sound Theatre. We’ll see “The Miracle of Christmas.” After decades of crushing Roman rule, the Hebrew people are losing hope. When will the promised Messiah come? Into the midst of this turmoil, young Mary is told she will bear God’s son. Angels in heaven proclaim his birth; humble shepherds and regal kings pay him homage. Clearly this is no ordinary child! But who is he - really? Is he the Messiah, our Savior? Who can even believe such a thing! Witness the story that is central to the season, brought to life with high drama, awe-inspiring special effects and live animals. Rejoice with your whole family as the true meaning of Christmas unfolds right before your eyes! (CB, D)

3rd Day: After your continental breakfast, we will board the coach for Hershey’s Chocolate World. Enjoy Hershey’s Great American Chocolate Tour Ride. Follow the cocoa beans on a journey from the tropical rainforest to the SWEETEST PLACE ON EARTH – Hershey, Pennsylvania! See, feel, hear, and smell the delicious transformation from bean to HERSHEY’S famous chocolate. Also, enjoy a FREE sample of a Hershey’s product at the end of the tour. Next, we depart for home, arriving back at approximately 8:30 PM. (CB)

Special Notice: Balance due 30 days prior to departure. Cancellation within 30 days of departure will result in payment forfeiture.
