Christmas In The Amish Country

1st Day: Upon arrival in Lancaster, Pennsylvania we will check into our home for the next two nights.Tonight, enjoy a show at the American Music Theatre. Playing at this time is their Christmas Special “Home for the Holidays”. Inspired by warm memories of family Christmases together, Home for the Holidays celebrates the joys and merriment of spending the holidays with the ones we love. The show takes place on Christmas Eve and features many of the beloved traditions we look forward to each year. This live, musical experience will feature some of your favorite sacred and secular holiday songs, superb musical arrangements, outstanding singing and dancing, and the incredible sounds of the AMT Orchestra. Come celebrate the wonder, warmth, and magic of the season as we go “home for the holidays” with a show guaranteed to leave you in the Christmas Spirit!

2nd Day: This morning, we will visit the National Christmas Center. Discover the magic and memories, the history and traditions of Christmas at the National Christmas Center! Here, the true meaning of Christmas is honored and remembered. We celebrate the birth of Christ. You are invited to take a realistic journey from “Nazareth” to “Bethlehem,” immersing you in the rich history and culture of biblical times. Through this experience, they hope to bring each visitor closer to a true understanding of the miracle that was that first Christmas, over 2000 years ago. This afternoon we will visit the Kitchen Kettle Village, with over thirty shops and restaurants jammed full of Lancaster’s simple pleasures. We’ll also go to a Farmer’s Market (if open). Tonight, an Amish Feast is included. After dinner, we head to Strasburg to the Sight & Sound Theatre. We’ll see “The Miracle of Christmas.” After decades of crushing Roman rule, the Hebrew people are losing hope. When will the promised Messiah come? Into the midst of this turmoil, young Mary is told she will bear God’s son. Angels in heaven proclaim his birth; humble shepherds and regal kings pay him homage. Clearly this is no ordinary child! But who is he - really? Is he the Messiah, our Savior? Who can even believe such a thing! Witness the story that is central to the season, brought to life with high drama, awe-inspiring special effects and live animals. Rejoice with your whole family as the true meaningof Christmas unfolds right before your eyes! (CB, D)
