Christmas In Amish Country

‘Home for the Holidays' & 'Jonah'

1st Day: Upon arrival in Lancaster, PA, we will check into our home for the next two nights. Tonight, enjoy a show at the American Music Theatre. Playing at this time is Home for the Holidays. A bonafide Christmas tradition, American Music Theatre's delightfully festive concert is back, and this year, it's pulling out all the stops. Featuring the shining talents of a host of local performers, the holiday extravaganza promises thrills and chills from the moment you arrive at the venue's decorated lobby to the triumphant final chords of the show-stopping finale. The production spreads holiday cheer with effervescent arrangements of favorite classics and carols, electrifying choreography, and soaring vocals from the AMT ensemble cast and orchestra. It is sure to warm the heart with a jam-packed program of world-class entertainment without ever losing sight of the true sentiment of Christmas. Don your best Christmas sweater and prepare to sing along into the night!

2nd Day: This morning, we will have a guided tour of Amish country to learn about the Amish culture. Our guide will lead us into the countryside and talk about Amish customs and traditions. You may see several one-room schoolhouses which are still being used today by Amish children.  We may even be lucky enough to see Amish horse and buggies clip-clopping down the roads. This afternoon we will visit Kitchen Kettle Village, with over thirty shops and restaurants jammed full of Lancaster’s simple pleasures. We’ll also go to a farmer’s market (if open). Tonight, a smorgasbord dinner is included. After dinner, we head to Strasburg to the Sight & Sound Theatre to see Jonah. Jonah is a prophet and a man desperately trying to outrun his calling from God — a calling that leads straight to his enemy, Nineveh. After uncharted adventures lead him off a stormtossed ship and into the belly of a giant fish, Jonah believes all hope is lost. But in the depths, will he learn how to receive grace and extend mercy, even toward those he opposed the most? Experience one of the Bible’s most powerful stories of mercy as Jonah’s journey comes to life like never before in this original production from Sight & Sound theaters. (CB,D)

3rd Day: After your continental breakfast, we will depart for Hershey’s Chocolate World where a local guide will board the coach for a 1-hour tour. We will explore the town's history & life story of chocolatier Milton Hershey. Our guide will share fun facts, laughter, history and chocolate samples! Next, we depart for home, arriving back at approximately 8:30 PM. (CB)

Special Notice: Balance due 30 days prior to departure. Cancellation within 30 days of departure will result in payment forfeiture.
