Plus The Boone Hall Plantation

1st Day: Departing for our 1-night, 2-day stay in beautiful and history filled Charleston, SC. Upon arriving in Charleston, we will go directly to the International African American Museum where you will be free to explore the wide-ranging exhibitions that tell the story of how Africans and African Americans—through their labor, resistance, and ingenuity— have shaped every aspect of our world. This story of trauma and triumph includes publicly accessible African Ancestors Memorial Garden - a gathering place, a destination of its own, and respite for museum guests before and after their visit. After exploring everything the museum has to offer, you will have dinner on your own and check into your home for the night.

2nd Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we will make our way to The Boone Hall Plantation. Founded in 1681, the plantation has a large collection of brick slave cabins, and while it now offers exhibits on Black History in America and the Gullah culture, its past is marked by the severe hardships endured by enslaved individuals. The slave cabins themselves were built by the enslaved, using bricks made on-site, and they grew their own crops like cotton and vegetables. The Plantation is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After our visit, we will head for home. Arrive at home approximately 6:00pm. (CB)
