Washington, D.C. - 4th of July Fireworks

Celebrate Our Nation’s 250th Birthday in Washington, D.C.!

Day 1: Today we head to Chantilly, VA to visit the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center where the aircraft, spacecraft, and rockets that are too large for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall are on display. The 760,000-square-foot facility/hangar contains some of the most iconic artifacts in aviation history, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, the Enola Gay, and the Boeing 367-80, as well as examples of the SR-71 Blackbird and Concorde. After our visit we will check into our hotel and have dinner (on your own) before heading into Washington, D.C. for the spectacular Fireworks display! The National Independence Day Celebration promises to be one of the most spectacular in the nation, with the Washington Monument serving as backdrop to dramatic music and fireworks. After the fireworks we will return to the hotel for the evening.

Please note: The group will be dropped off at Union Station which is 4-6 blocks from the National Mall area. Please keep that in mind if you have mobility concerns. You are welcome to bring a blanket or chair to view the fireworks unless security changes in which case you will be notified in advance. JUNE UPDATE - CAMPING AND/OR FOLDING CHAIRS ARE NOW PROHIBITED.

Day 2: After breakfast this morning, we will visit Arlington National Cemetery, America’s largest national burial ground, with more than 500-acres of landscaped hills. Explore the rich history found within the cemetery grounds on an interpretive bus tour. You will see the US Marine Corps War Memorial, President John F. Kennedy’s gravesite, US Coast Guard Memorial, US Army Gen. John J. Pershing’s gravesite, and the Arlington House (The Robert E. Lee Memorial), and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where you can also witness the changing of the guards. Our next stop will be the National Museum of the Marine Corps, a lasting tribute to the commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices of the U.S. Marines. The Museum's design evokes images of the flag raisers of Iwo Jima and beckons visitors to the 240,000-square-foot structure. Take time to enjoy the interpretive exhibits and unique artifacts at the Museum, visit the USMC gift shop, and enjoy lunch on your own before departing for home. Arrive at home approximately 8:30PM.

Special Note: Balance due 30 days prior to departure. Cancellation within 30 days of departure will result in payment forfeiture.
