Savannah's Secrets and Shadows
Dare to Explore the Haunted Heart of the South
1st Day: Join us for an unforgettable three-day journey to uncover secrets and chilling tales that linger in the cobblestone streets of Savannah, GA—one of America’s most beautiful and most haunted cities. Arriving in the afternoon, we check into our hotel in the Historic Downtown area and have time on our own to enjoy the sights. The day is far from over, as we gather for a private dinner at the famously haunted Old Savannah Distillery. Next, we’ll embark on an exclusive paranormal investigation, seeking out the spirits that still call this historic spot home. (D)
2nd Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we begin the day with a visit to the magnificent Green-Meldrim House. Our insiders tour will reveal the role this National Historic Landmark played during the Civil War and we’ll explore the shadows and unexplained sounds that are said to linger there. Immediately following the tour, we’ll proceed to adjacent Madison Square. This seemingly peaceful square harbors a dark history: it was the site of an intense battle during the Siege of Savannah and is widely believed to be built directly over the remains of fallen soldiers. Next, we’ll have time on our own for lunch and explore the charming squares and unique boutiques in downtown Savannah. The afternoon takes you back in time to the Roaring Twenties with an engaging visit to the American Prohibition Museum. After a guided tour of the Museum, we’ll visit their hidden Speakeasy for a complimentary cocktail, mocktail, or soda made in house. We’ll have dinner on our own at any one of the local restaurants amidst the vibrant energy of the downtown area. As darkness settles, the ghostly side of Savannah emerges! We begin with a guided tour of the Savannah Theater. Opening in 1818 on Chippewa Square, the Savannah Theatre is one of America’s oldest and most haunted stages. Having survived several devastating fires, the theatre is allegedly home to restless spirits who refuse to leave the spotlight. Following this chilling tour, we board a trolley for our next adventure, a Haunted History Trolley Tour for a thrilling, guided journey that will uncover the city's spookiest tales. We conclude the evening and return to the hotel to rest after a full day immersed in Savannah’s shadows. (B)
3rd Day: This morning, we step onto the hallowed grounds of Bonaventure Cemetery, where its heartbreaking beauty and quiet serenity act as a chilling veil for the powerful, supernatural current that flows beneath the ancient oaks. Its fame surged after the release of John Berendt’s non-fiction novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which prominently featured the iconic "Bird Girl" statue (since moved for preservation) on its cover. Prepare to be captivated by its picturesque setting and deep historical significance as you explore the magnificent sculptures and elaborate stone angels. Next we’ll take a walk through Colonial Park Cemetery, in the heart of the historic district. Be sure to take pictures as it’s said that shadow figures frequently appear in the background of tourist photos taken near the perimeter walls. We’ll make one last stop on our walk at the Cathedral of Basilica of St. John the Baptist, a striking example of French Gothic architecture. Its stunning architecture and history draw visitors from around the world. We will have lunch on our own in the area before we depart for home. (B)
