Navigating the city, Liz narrates the centuries-old history of Greensboro College and somber Civil War-era landmarks, introducing the Triad's restless ghosts before our memorable departure. Leaving the Triad behind, our wheels begin to hum rhythmically on the wide interstate toward Raleigh, North Carolina. This engrossing leg of the journey is richly filled with mesmerizing stories, covering everything from the swashbuckling Blackbeard’s ghost to the rural legend of "The Miller Married a Witch," and countless creepy tales of mysterious NC Cryptids. We begin at the magnificent North Carolina State Capitol, widely rumored to be America’s most haunted Capitol Building. Here, we delve into otherworldly stories that stubbornly cling to the halls of power before heading downtown to the iconic Briggs Hardware Building—Raleigh’s time-honored first skyscraper. Finally, we pass the architecturally stunning Heck-Andrews House to hear the haunting, poignant tale of the ill-fated Gladys Perry. The next essential stop is the historic and serene Oakwood Cemetery, undoubtedly the city’s most famous and evocative burial ground. Surrounded by its grand, solemn monuments, we hear the intriguing lore of the mysteriously spinning angel and the spectral, eternal patrols of Confederate troops. Here, for those brave enough to seek a connection beyond the veil, we invite intrepid paranormal investigators to deploy their own specialized equipment, eagerly hoping to capture a brief, fleeting communication with the enigmatic past. Afterwards we will drive through Dix Park and Mordecau House and hear interesting stories about each one before stopping for lunch. As we travel further south to the charming town of Fuquay-Varina, our remaining time is dedicated to a deep, investigative, and immersive dive into its unique, storied history. Her body of work has reached audiences through WSJS radio, the Carolina Haints podcast, Strange Carolinas, and her production “Moonlight Frights: Campfire Stories of the Carolinas.” She has also served as a story scout for KQED’s “Snap Judgment Presents: Spooked.” Recently, Pardue published her first book and won both the Linda Goodman New Voices and People’s Choice Awards at the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival. She is currently touring North Carolina with her “Keep NC Weird” and “Tarheel Terrors” speaking series.
