Lunch at the Dan'l Boone Inn

Upon arrival in Boone, we will visit the Mast General Store, a renovated 1920s department store now selling crafts and general mercantile. Once inside, you'll quickly see why the store has earned the reputation as the store that has everything.  Afterwards, we will have lunch at the Dan'l Boone Inn. The restaurant has been featured in Southern Living Magazine as well as Our State Magazine for their country cuisine and family style meals. The restaurant was third in Southern Living's reader's choice awards for country cooking restaurants, and first in Our State Magazine Family Dining/Country Cooking.  After lunch we will ride on the Linn Cove Viaduct section of the Blue Ridge Parkway on our way to Grandfather Mountain. The Blue Ridge Parkway is North Carolina's top scenic attraction. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as we make our way to the top of the mountain where you can spend time in the Nature Museum or visit the animal habitats and see black bears, river otters, eagles, and more.  No visit to Grandfather Mountain would be complete without a visit to the Mile High Swinging Bridge to take in the breathtaking views. On a clear day you can see all the way to Charlotte!  Returning approximately 8:00 PM. (L)
